Starting Your Training
- Beginners are welcome to start at any time in any class. The better
class to start is the Level-1/Beginner class, which is offered over 4
weeks starting the first Friday of the month and meeting in the Level-1
course time slot at 7:30 PM.
- All classes are designed for adults and teens 13 years and up. (For
Youth classes see below.)
- Wear loose fitting clothes that cover elbows/knees or a dogi (available
for purchase through the dojo).
Youth Classes (ages 7 - 13, or younger with permission of instructor)

- Youth 1 classes - beginner to intermediate.
- Youth 2 classes - intermediate to advanced.
- Youth 1&2 - a combined class where both groups train together.
- Requires bokken and dogi - can be purchased at dojo.
- Students must be at least 13 years old, or have instructors permission.
- Requires bokken, jo, tanto - can be purchased at dojo.
- Beginner students are welcome, but are encouraged to take the
introductory class.
Introductory
Starts the first Friday of each month. You will learn pivots, begin to do
breakfalls, and study the basic techniques for the first test.
Youth 1, 2, or 1&2
Designed for youth between the ages of 7 and 13 years and teens. Students
build fluid movements with partners, learn techniques, and have fun.
Level-1 Classes
The basic techniques and movements related to the early tests are learned.
The bokken(wooden sword) and Jo(wooden staff) are introduced. More ability
doing basic breakfalls and rolls is developed.
Level-2 Classes
Focused on mid level test techniques, from 5th kyu through 1st kyu, more
weapons and early blackbelt techniques plus free style. All buki(weapons)
are taught including the tanto(wooden dagger), bokken and jo. Advanced
breakfalls and jumping breakfalls are studied.
